Congress News: April 2008 - ABSTRACTS

Dear colleagues

Abstracts:

The Oxford Abstracts online system for managing submissions, as talks or as posters, for the 23rd International Congress of Entomology, was closed on 31 March 2008. But as can be seen from the home page of the ICE website and from the ICE abstracts 'Submission form', while online submissions are no longer being accepted, prospective presenters can still send in an abstract (including details of names and addresses of authors, and choice of Section and Symposium) by e-mailing Kerry de Lange at kerryd@turnergroup.co.za who will enter the information manually onto the Oxford Abstracts data base.

Scientific Programme:

The Scientific Programme for ICE2008 is very full - presently, 1885 submissions have been accepted for oral presentations, and 808 for posters. Of course, we anticipate withdrawals, especially after the deadline date of 30 April 2008, which is the final date that presenting authors can register and pay their registration fees if they wish to have their contributions included and published in the Scientific Programme.

Late Submissions:

Thus we are still encouraging late submissions (via the e-mail route described in the first paragraph) and will continue to do so as long as it is feasible to process these contributions, and as long as there is still space in the programme. A date for the complete cessation to the acceptance of late submissions will be decided by the Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee, and will be announced on the ICE web-pages, probably during early May. Welcome:

We look forward to welcoming you to ICE 2008 and to Durban South Africa
